Tribal War: Nigerian kills Nigerian & Injures Another Critically
The two bleeding Nigerians got away from the house but fainted a little distance away. Others at the birthday fled in panic.
The two Nigerians were taken to a hospital where Oshifo was declared dead and Kelvin was admitted. The attacker, Henry, was arrested on Tuesday morning.
The Hindu quoting the police said the stabbed Nigerians were found, blood soaked on the main road in the Krishna Park area of Khanpur around 2 a.m. .
They had blood oozing from their bodies because of stab wounds and were taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences where Oshifo succumbed to his injuries. Kelvin is admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre in a serious condition.
Explaining the sequence of events, a police officer said: “Kelvin told us that he and Oshifo were attending a party at a friend’s apartment in the Krishna Park area, where an argument turned into a violent confrontation. On the spur of the moment, their friend Henry, also a Nigerian national, attacked them with knives.”
Residents of the area denied having seen anything or hearing any commotion that lead to the murder.
A young man, however, happened to be awake at that time. He said that he saw the two young men running out to the main road crying for help.
“I was taking a break from my studies and I came to my home’s balcony when I saw two men with blood oozing from their bodies running towards the main road. They collapsed when they reached there and just a few seconds later, I saw a PCR van coming to their rescue,” said the area resident.
Outside the flat where the alleged incident is supposed to have taken place there was blood spots on the path, suggesting that the two victims ran out seeking help.
A first information report has been registered at the Nebsarai police station under sections of murder.
In Malaysia, another Nigerian was reportedly stabbed to death also by a compatriot.
An online newsapper, www.mid-day.com reported the Nigerian was stabbed to death near Shalimar society in Kondhwa on Sunday around 8pm. The Kondhwa police have arrested Nigerian national, George Aimer (34), for allegedly murdering his countryman, Oscar (25), by stabbing him in the chest with a broken glass bottle.
Police have seized George’s bloodstained clothes and shoes and the broken glass bottle from the crime scene. They are now trying to ascertain the motive behind the murder, and are investigating the duration of stay of the Nigerians in Kondhwa area, whether they possess valid passport and visa.
George was nabbed while purchasing medicines to treat the injuries he sustained during the scuffle with Oscar. Officials said they had altered all the medical shops in the area to inform them the moment a foreigner approaches them to purchase medicines. Owner of the shop where George went to purchase medicines alerted the police.
Inspector (Crime) S D Pochorkar from Kondhwa police station said, “An auto driver informed us that two foreigners were fighting near Shalimar society. By the time policemen reached the spot, Oscar had succumbed to the injuries. Investigation lead us to George Aimer, taken into custody as the prime suspect.”
Mid-day.com reported that language barrier has stalled investigation into the murder case.

Prophet T. B. Joshua says " Committing Abortion After Rape is Double Sin"
Contrary to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s submission on abortion and
rape, Prophet TB Joshua, during a Question and Answer session with his
followers on Facebook has stressed that abortion after rape isn’t just a
sin, but a double sin which has grave consequences.
Contradicting Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s teaching that abortion after being raped is not a sin, the General Overseer of the Synagogue Church Of All Nation, further said ”Committing an abortion when you are raped is a double sin. God often uses foolish things to express Himself.
Many great people and heroes today are products of this background. In any way, in any circumstance you find yourself today as you are reading this note, you have not committed any unpardonable sin. Run to Jesus; don’t run from Him in whatever situation you find yourself.”
Weeks ago, Chris Oyakhilome stated that abortion after being raped cannot be termed a sin.

A Los Angeles court has ordered that singer Chris Brown will remain in jail for at least a month till his probation violation hearing as he is unable to "stay out of trouble".
Judge James Brandlin, Superior Court Judge, Los Angeles told Brown that he has an "inability to stay out of trouble" and ruled he will remain in the Los Angeles jail until his April 23 probation violation hearing, reports mirror.co.uk
Brown was sentenced to 90 days in the treatment programme in November following his assault arrest where he allegedly punched and broke the nose of a man who was trying to get a picture with him.

If found guilty, Brown could be sentenced to four years in prison.

“Your Picture is Not From Any Nollywood Movie”, Critics Tell Biola Ige
Efforts by Nollywood actress, Biola Ige to clear the air by claiming
the picture of her and actor, Muna Ibekwe in an amorous position is from
a movie shot two years ago has been countered by people who claimed the
actress was making up tales to defend herself.
Biola who released a statement that reads ‘I was going to remain silent on the photo being displayed on the internet, however I realised that I need to set the record straight for my family, friends and fans who I love and respect. The photo in question was taken from the set of of a movie called ‘Pregnant Hawkers’ in which I played a hawker who was in a romantic situation with a man. This movie was shot and aired two ears ago. The photo circulating on the internet right now is the photo from a scene in the movie and nothing more. If you watch the movie you will see that there is nothing to this movie other than the fact that I was playing a role. I am an actress, it is a profession that I love and will continue to to enjoy. I am required to play all sorts of roles. In each role I step oput of being Biola Ige and go straight into the character. Whoever is maliciously leaking this photo to make it appear to be something else has simply given me some great publicity. Thank you. I have been through a lot of difficult things this year with the loss of my mum and a brief illness, that a simple photo from a movie scene from 2 years ago is the least of my worries. I have no further comments regarding this act to hurt my character. I look forward to acting more movies and playing more roles to entertain you. Thank you all for reading’.
A Nollywood actress who spoke with Streetjournal under the condition of anonymity claimed Biola’s explanation was flimsy. The actress demanded that she produces the movie and show everyone the scene where the picture was taken from.
The actress alleged that Biola and Muna Ibekwe were having an affair and someone got hold of the illicit picture which Biola was claiming she shot from a movie.
Another actor who said he doesn’t want to have anything to do with the scandal said the picture was actually taken for a purpose which was aborted by the unusual attention it raised.
The actor argued that if it was from a movie scene shot two years ago that it must have arrested he attention it was just getting now.
Biola Ige was said to have alleged that a colleague, Ruth Eze as the brain behind the spread of the picture on the internet.
She was said to have threatened to take necessary actions when the time demands.

38 Died in Floods, 160 Displaced in Last Year - NEMA Reports
The National Emergency Management Agency
(NEMA) says 38 people died while 160 were displaced as a result of
floods last year, adding that the seasonal rainfall prediction issued by
the
Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) helps in reducing the numbers of lives and properties lost to flood disasters.
Director General of NEMA Muhammad Sani Sidi stated this at a workshop on the application of the seasonal rainfall prediction to climate sensitive sectors organized by NIMET at the weekend in Abuja.
Represented by the Director, Planning, Research and Forecasting Alhasan Nuhu, the NEMA boss said in 2013 flood, the agency recorded a decrease in the number of persons affected to less than one million. He said when compared to the devastating 2012 flood, there was a significant reduction in the number of those affected.
He attributed the success recorded to sensitization campaign embarked upon by the agency based on Seasonal Rainfall Prediction and Nigeria Hydrological Service Agency (NIHSA) 2013 annual flood outlook. The NEMA boss also identified some challenges of the rainfall prediction as lack of outreach to key stakeholders at the most basic levels, poor communication of forecasts, lack of trust in forecast and low capacity to act on the forecasts.

Nigeria's National Conference Holds in Abuja
SOURCE: BBC Africa
A National Conference to
discuss Nigeria's future is opening, with the division of oil money and
powers expected to be the main issues.
Some 500 delegates are attending, representing Nigeria's many ethnic, linguistic and religious groups.
The National Conference comes 100 years after the mainly Muslim north and largely Christian south were united.
Delegates have been barred from discussing whether the country should be divided.
However, some groups say they will still raise this issue during the three-month conference in the capital Abuja.
Critics, including the main opposition party, have dismissed the conference as a waste of time and money.
The oil is located in southern Nigeria and some delegates from oil-producing areas want local communities to keep more of the revenue it generates.
However, poverty levels are far higher in the north and delegates from non-oil-producing areas are expected to resist such moves.
At present, oil states keep 25% of the oil revenue they earn and hand the rest to the federal government.
Nigeria is one of the world's biggest oil producers but most of its 170 million people live in poverty.
Some Nigerians want more powers to be delegated to the country's 36 states.
BBC Hausa editor Mansur Liman says it appears as though President Goodluck Jonathan wants to use the conference to change the constitution, which would otherwise be very difficult to achieve.
The conference comes ahead of elections next year, in which the governing People's Democratic
Party is expected to face its strongest challenge since the end of military rule in 1999.
It also comes amid almost daily attacks by militants, suspected to be from Boko Haram, which wants to govern northern Nigeria according to Islamic law.
Nigeria: A nation divided
Despite its vast resources, Nigeria ranks among the most
unequal countries in the world, according to the UN. The poverty in the
north is in stark contrast to the more developed southern states. While
in the oil-rich south-east, the residents of Delta and Akwa Ibom
complain that all the wealth they generate flows up the pipeline to
Abuja and Lagos.
Nigeria's 160 million people are divided between numerous
ethno-linguistic groups and also along religious lines. Broadly, the
Hausa-Fulani people based in the north are mostly Muslims. The Yorubas
of the south-west are divided between Muslims and Christians, while the
Igbos of the south-east and neighbouring groups are mostly Christian or
animist. The Middle Belt is home to hundreds of groups with different
beliefs, and around Jos there are frequent clashes between
Hausa-speaking Muslims and Christian members of the Berom community.
Southern residents tend to have better access to healthcare, as
reflected by the greater uptake of vaccines for polio, tuberculosis,
tetanus and diphtheria. Some northern groups have in the past boycotted
immunisation programmes, saying they are a Western plot to make Muslim
women infertile. This led to a recurrence of polio, but the vaccinations
have now resumed.
Female literacy is seen as the key to raising living standards
for the next generation. For example, a newborn child is far likelier to
survive if its mother is well-educated. In Nigeria we see a stark
contrast between the mainly Muslim north and the Christian and animist
south. In some northern states less than 5% of women can read and write,
whereas in some Igbo areas more than 90% are literate.
Nigeria is Africa's biggest oil producer and among the biggest
in the world but most of its people subsist on less than $2 a day. The
oil is produced in the south-east and some militant groups there want to
keep a greater share of the wealth which comes from under their feet.
Attacks by militants on oil installations led to a sharp fall in
Nigeria's output during the last decade. But in 2010, a government
amnesty led thousands of fighters to lay down their weapons.
Nigerian Stadium Stampede For The Immigration Recruitment Exercise Leaves Seven Dead
Seven people have been killed in a stampede at Nigeria's national stadium during a recruitment drive for the immigration service, according to officials.
The stampede late on Saturday shows the desperation for jobs in Africa's second biggest economy and most populous nation, where oil wealth has enriched elites and helped the economy grow by more than 6% a year but has failed to create employment.
Officials said only one entrance to the 60,000-capacity stadium in Abuja was open during the aptitude test for applicants to join the immigration service. Reuters counted seven bodies at the national hospital where the dead and injured were taken.
Tayo Haastrup, a spokesman for the hospital, said there were several in a critical but stable condition.
"We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the untimely death of the young citizens who were at the exercise not only to secure jobs but to be allowed the opportunity to contribute towards the development of the nation," said Olisa Metuh, spokesman of Nigeria's ruling People's Democratic party.

When asked why she would do that, she relied that he was the only son she had and she just wanted to spoil him.

One Bad Night in Birmingham Against Aston Villa Should Not Define Chelsea’s season

Chelsea’s Willian was sent off by referee Chris Foy (Picture: Reuters)
While the build-up to Saturday’s prime time Premier League games had pundits asking whether Chelsea’s nine-point lead over Manchester City was a genuine one, the fiery finale at Villa Park indicates otherwise.
This is not simply for the reason that Fabian Delph’s shock winning goal against the Blues reduced City’s deficit to six points following their defeat of Hull. Oh no. It’s the ugly, ugly scenes that came just before the final whistle between Chelsea and Aston Villa which will have awoken fans to the imperfections of the pacesetters.
The trio of embarrassing dismissals that evening – two red cards for Chelsea players, Willian and Ramires, and exile to the stands for manager Jose Mourinho – brought to mind some low points of the club’s glory decade: Didier Drogba’s Moscow meltdown, John Terry’s lapse against Barcelona and the disastrous loss to QPR.
Past precedent shows that even the greats sometimes lose the plot and see red, but what matters is how the team responds to those calamities. On that basis, Chelsea cannot allow their capitulation against Villa, under real pressure from their opponents and indirectly from their rivals, to become an allegory of the title race.
The bad-tempered Blues display revealed a degree of truth behind Mourinho’s claim that his ‘beautiful young eggs’ are not fully-fledged champions – perhaps lacking the experience and effectual strike force of Man City – yet the prospect of a trophy-less season without Premier League success means this must be circumvented.
By contrast, despite Vincent Kompany being sent-off after ten minutes at the KC Stadium, Manuel Pellegrini’s men produced an all-round performance which highlighted their poise and adaptability. Many will expect the chasers to use their three games in hand to leapfrog Chelsea accordingly, even without their suspended captain.

The obvious difference between both title challengers this weekend was in their attitudes after experiencing setbacks. If the Premier League crown does return to Stamford Bridge in 2014, it will be through Chelsea showing greater composure at crucial junctures.
Where Mourinho was up to his usual touchline panto on Saturday with players looking furious and frazzled, his Chilean counterpart had helped the Sky Blues stay cool and cancel out their one-man shortfall to win 2-0. City goalscorers David Silva and Edin Dzeko ultimately rose to the task where Fernando Torres was anonymous.
Although there was a bad luck about referee Chris Foy’s decisions to rule out a rightful goal by Nemanja Matic for handball and in awarding Willian a second yellow card for his soft tackle on Delph, Chelsea will continue to be reeled in by an efficient City side if similar incidents keep disturbing relatively straightforward fixtures.
Now that Pellegrini’s team can afford to lose a match and maintain control of their own Premier League destiny, it is up to the west Londoners to raise tensions at the Etihad Stadium with resolute performances. But questions will be asked of City again, supposing Chelsea bounce back against Galatasaray and Arsenal.

No Twin Wedding For P-Square: Paul Sets To Go Alone
I was disappointed when I learnt that there may be no twin wedding for the popular afro-pop artistes P-Square.I don’t know why they had to change their plans but it would have been exciting to watch them say “I do” together. After the flamboyant wedding of Peter Okoye and Lola Omotayo last November, I was expecting Paul to hold on for a while and probably share the church wedding with his other half, but I guess his bride to be Anita Isama couldn’t wait to strut her elegance and style.
And if the invitation card is one of her ways to mark her panache in
the social scene, then she is on the right track. Pictures of the
invitation card was floated on the internet last week, generating so
much buzz that one would wonder what kind of rave the traditional
wedding ceremony will generate.
I hope the amount of time and money they invested on the artwork will also be invested in their marriage.
How and Why I Stole My Boss’ Honda SUV – Adeleke confessed
The Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FEDSARS, Adeniji-Adele, Lagos,
recently paraded some suspects allegedly involved in different crimes
ranging from robbery, diversion of goods and receiving stolen goods
operating within Lagos, Oyo, Ondo and Ogun States. Among the suspects
was a 39-year-old technician and driver, Adeleke Ayodele.
Adeleke’s exploits in the criminal world was blown open on February 24, 2014, after the dragnet of operatives of the FEDSARS caught up with him for stealing a Honda Sports Utility, SUV, belonging to his employer. The father of two told Crime Guard during an interview that his plight began immediately he took up appointment as a driver to Mr. Iseoluwa Elkanah. According to him, “I work under Mr. Elkanah as a driver. On my first day at work, I drove my boss and his friends to Okitipupa in Ondo State for a burial ceremony. While we were there, I stole the car and came back to Lagos instead of waiting for them.
How he went into hiding
“When I came back to Lagos, I started using the car as my personal vehicle. I was driving it around town and going around my normal business. And I used the car for two months, from December till February when they eventually arrested me. While this was happening, I was hiding because the owner of the car knows the house where I live.
Although, I am aware that one day they will catch me, but I kept hiding from them. Each time they came to the house, I would hide if I am inside. And if I am not, they will meet my wife and give her the message they have for me. They were unable to arrest me all this time because my wife was always feeding me with information each time they were around. Most times, I will leave the house very early in the morning and returned back late in the night to evade arrest. I was also using the vehicle for transportation and to do ‘big boy’.
“When I stole the car, it had no plate number. I later saw the number under the vehicle, so I attached it on the car, without registering the vehicle. I also bought a Navy tag, which I placed in front of the vehicle so that police and road safety officials will not stop me on the way. At a point after they were unable to apprehend me, My boss called me on phone and asked me what I wanted to do with the car. He asked me if I wanted to buy the car since I don’t want to return the vehicle. I told him yes but he didn’t give me chance to pay because that was the week they arrested me.”
“Although I feel bad now, I don’t know what led me into stealing the vehicle. All my life I have never been in police custody before, so I can’t say this is the particular thing that actually led me to commit the crime. It was after I committed the crime that the consequences of what I had done dawned on me. All I know is that I stole the vehicle because I wanted to be using it and I feel bad now that I have been arrested.
Acquisition of Navy tag
“I bought the tag from Navy barracks along Ijora area where they sell things. I placed the Navy tag at the front of the car’s windscreen to prevent law enforcement agents like LASTMA, VIO, and police from stopping me on the way while driving. I entered into the barracks where they are selling things; I bought it N500.”
How he was apprehended
On that day, I had gone around my normal business. I was on my way to Obalende, from Mile 12 when I was arrested by detectives along third mainland bridge. On that day, I was carrying 300 tubers of yams owned by a customer who had paid me N3000.00.
I usually do this whenever I don’t have money to buy fuel for the car. I would carry load for people and also carry passengers going towards my direction. The only advice I have for people stealing cars is to repent and change their ways.” he said.

Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet: Search Expands to 11 Countries, 'Deep and Remote Oceans'
The search area for the missing Malaysia
Airlines jet now spans "large tracts of land crossing 11 countries as
well as deep and remote oceans," according to Malaysian government
officials, who reached out to 25 countries about whether they had any
contact with the plane and asked for hsearch.
Those countries include Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan,
Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, China, Myanmar, Laos,
Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia. India suspended its search
around the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as well as the Bay of Bengal
after finding no hits for the plane on its radar, a spokesman for the
country's military said today.
"We are asking countries that have satellite assets, including the U.S.,
China and France, amongst others, to provide further satellite data,
and we are contacting additional countries who may be able to contribute
specific assets relevant to the search and rescue operation," Acting
Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, who is also Malaysia’s minister
of defense, said during a news conference.

The Drama 'Love Games' wins AMVCA Best TV Drama/Comedy
History repeated itself at this year's 2014 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice
Awards(AMVCA) ceremony at Eko Hotel in Lagos last Saturday when Nigerian film
artistes bagged most of the honours.
Out of the 27 categories, the West African country gathered 16 awards, while Kenya and Ghana shared 5 awards each.
Zambian nominees were not left out of the jubilation as Fred Phiri's production 'Love Games' emerged the Best Television Series (Comedy/Drama) of 2013.
A 26-episode drama, 'Love Games' is a signature product of Safe Love, an HIV prevention campaign by the Ministry of Health and National AIDS Council, with support from the USAID-Funded Communications Support for Health project.
The drama revolves around the lives of five young women in Lusaka who seek love in the age of HIV and AIDS.
Series producer Fred Phiri says the greatest achievement for his production company Media 365 is the ability to tell a story that deeply impacts lives.
"'Love Games' being nominated in 3 AMVCA categories is an honour and great achievement, a testimony to the creativity, talent, skill, hard work and determination of all the people that worked on it and we, as Media 365 and as individuals are deeply honoured to be counted amongst the best in Africa," he adds.
Phiri says his team did not expect to win, not because it does not believe in itself, but because it was up against competition from more developed film industries.
"It is a great honour and achievement for myself, Media 365, the cast, crew and everyone who worked on 'Love Games' and supported the project. We thank all the well-wishers and supporters who sponsored the programme," said Phiri.
And M-Net Africa managing director, Biola Alabi in an interview said M-Net Africa, in association with MultiChoice and Africa Magic, seeks to create a platform where Africa Magic itself can celebrate the stories told across the continent.
"It's a place where Africa can come together and celebrate the best of film and television and since the inaugural ceremony, we have seen quite good growth, people are bringing in high quality movies and amazing products."
"When people say we are the Oscars of Africa, that really scares me
because the Oscars are 86 years old and the AMVCAs are only two years old. But we'll surely get there with time," said Alabi.
Meanwhile, glitz, glamour coupled with electrifying musical performances punctuated this year's awards ceremony.
Among the night's performers were Nigerian star, Flavour ,of the Sawa sawa' fame, Cobhams and Davido.
