Nigerian Soldiers Retreated When Boko Haram Attacked In Adamawa

On Thursday, members of Boko Haram attacked three villages in Adamawa, killed about 37 persons, razed 3 commercial banks, shops, police station and and part of the Michika LGA secretariat.

PUNCH reported that officers of the Nigerian army who were supposed to repel the attack fled their check point on spotting the terrorists.

A pastor in Shuwa, which was one of the villages attacked, is quoted saying, "When the soldiers at the military checkpoints saw the number of the attackers, they retreated into the nearby bushes as the gunmen operated without challenge during the operation that lasted throughout the night".

Most residents of the attacked villages had to hide in nearby bushes and hills until the attack ended.
